Activision Not Impressed By EA's Name Calling

Activision Publication CEO Eric Hirshberg has criticized EA's recent smack-talk concerning the inevitable clash between Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3.

Talking at Gamescom 2011, Hirshberg claimed that the past slew of "mudslinging" from EA is harming the whole gaming industry. Hirshberg was non-indeed-subtly referencing a late interview in which Ea CEO John Riccitiello raspingly criticized Call of Duty: Modern War 3, claiming that the game had "jumped the shark" and saying that he hoped it would "Rot from the core."

Hirshberg was not impressed. "Can you imagine the head of Dreamworks Animation coming unconscious with a new flic and going to the press and saying that he wants Toy Story to 'rot from the core'," He said. "It's kind of hard to imagine, good?"

He went on to add, "I've been asked countless times to respond to [Riccitiello's] annotate and I've broadly elect not to. My chore is to help our incredibly gifted, passionate teams to make the champion games they can, not to throw insults around at others. But I in reality feel this kind of empty talk is bad for our industriousness."

Alas, the catch one's breath of Activision manifestly doesn't share Hirshberg's turn-the-other-cheek attitude. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick is somewhat disreputable for working his back talk which only exacerbates existing tensions.

Hirshberg argues that cattiness from competing developers isn't doing the industry whatever favors. "The exclusively way to do that is to continue to make great games. We shouldn't be tearing each other apart fighting for a bigger piece of music of the pie – we should all cost convergent along trying to grow a bigger pie. If we arsenic an industry act like there's a exhaustible number of games in the populace, then there will be."

Despite the fact inter-publishing firm cat fights urinate for great news and pithy headlines, IT'd be nice to see publishers talk of the town to and about one other without either badmouthing their rival or pretending they don't be. On the other hand, my inner 13-year-old demands that if EA responds to Hirshberg's comments by making a joke active his mom, I'll have to go out and preorder Battlefield 3 immediately.
